The luxury German automaker, Mercedes-Benz, has eventually decided to take the veil off its next generation GLE model. Basically, the car is none other than a facelifted variant of the company’s M-Class model, only with a new nomenclature. With that being said, it is not surprising at all to see it coming with a redesigned headlamps and front grille. It seems that Mercedes-Benz has also taken a wise decision by updating the rear fascia. The latter now features a sporty exhaust system in addition to LED taillights. The car is scheduled to make its world premiere at this year’s New York Auto Show event.

Stepping into the cabin, owners of the vehicle will be well reminded of the German marquee’s M-Class. Nonetheless, this time around, drivers will also find a freestanding vehicle infotainment system and a newly designed multi-function steering wheel. There is even a redesigned color palette as well as an extensive trim assortment. For the latter, the luxury German marquee is allowing customers to choose brown burred walnut, brown eucalyptus, brown ash, piano black, carbon fiber, aluminum and many more.

Under the hood, customers will be given a number of engine options. They can go for a 3.0L V6 twin-turbo engine, to begin with. This grants them with 333 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque. In addition to that, customers can also get a 4.7L V8 engine with 435 PS and 700 Nm of power and torque. There is also a 2.1L 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that delivers 204 PS and 480 Nm of power and torque and also a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel engine delivering 258 PS and 620 Nm of power and torque.

For the ultimate version, customers can go for the GLE 63 AMG variant that comes with a 5.5L V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 557 PS and 700 Nm of power and torque or the GLE 63 AMG S that offers 585 PS and 760 Nm of power and torque. While the GLE 63 AMG takes 4.3 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, the GLE 63 AMG S takes only 4.2 seconds to do the same.

A plug-in hybrid variant is going to be available as well. Bearing the GLE 500 e 4MATIC moniker, the car packs a 3.0L V6 BlueDIRECT engine that is backed by a lithium-ion battery with a total capacity of 8.8 kWh. Paired with the company’s 7G-TRONIC PLUS 7-speed transmission system, the car delivers 442 PS and 650 Nm of power and torque.
