If you remember correctly, the Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi, actually revealed the Triton (Thailand) back in November 2014. Now, the car, which is in fact the Mitsubishi L200, is going to head to this year’s Geneva Motor Show event, designed as a 2015 model year vehicle. For those who may not notice, the Mitsubishi L200 has come to its fifth generation. The Japanese company is actually referring to the model as a completely new Sport Utility Truck model. This, according to Mitsubishi, is to keep the legacy of the outgoing models alive. After all, the L200 lineup from Mitsubishi has sold more than 1.3 million units all over the world.
In terms of power, the car has to count on the company’s 2.4L turbodiesel engine. Power output ranges from 154 to 181 hp. As for the torque, it ranges from 380 to 430 Nm. The upcoming Sport Utility Truck from Mitsubishi is also going to be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Other changes that are also worth mentioning with the new L200 from Mitsubishi include bi-xenon projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, restyled HID headlamps, Lane Departure Warning system, Hill Start Assist, and also Traction Control & Active Stability feature with Trailer Stability Assist.
The Japanese automaker behind the development of the pick-up truck discussed here has reportedly tweaked the cabin of the vehicle as well. Not only is the interior more spacious now but it is also quieter than ever before. In addition to that, the Japanese company claims that it has made sure to improve the driving position as well.
Yet, as for the Club Cab variant, customers will now get rear doors for the sake of practicality. Other features to expect here include tilt steering wheel, a rearview camera, an automated dual-zone climate control system and also cruise control.
The 2015 Mitsubishi L200 is currently entering production in Thailand. Mitsubishi will start selling the car this summer in the European continent. Customers will be able to choose from two variants, the Double Cab and the Club Cab variants.
