It has been reported for quite some time that the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer from the US, Tesla Motors, is working on a new model that will be known as the Model X. Well, now, the model in question has actually been caught on camera during testing in the vicinity of Palo Alto, California. When spotted, the car was barely wearing any camouflage at all.
Report has it, the upcoming all-electric vehicle model from Tesla will be hitting the market sometime around the third quarter of this year itself. This makes good sense, especially judging by the spy images of the car here. Paying close attention to the spy images, it is not hard to see that the car bears production bits and pieces. Interestingly enough, the images also reveal that this upcoming EV from the US automaker will be featuring falcon wing doors. Tesla claims this is to provide easy entrance to the 3rd row seat passengers, even if the car is being parked at a very tight space.
When it comes to performance, it is believed that the Tesla Model X will benefit from the same engine used on the Tesla Model S. Yet, it is reported that all variants of the upcoming Model X will be gifted with a dual motor AWD drivetrain. Speaking of the engine, may we remind you that the Model S P85D from Tesla Motors comes with an engine that is well capable of delivering a total power output of 691 bhp and a total torque of 930 Nm. This enables the car to go from a standstill to the speed mark of 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. Its top speed, meanwhile, is rated at 250 km/h. Nonetheless, buyers of the Tesla Model X may have to be a bit disappointed here. The latter is apparently slower since it is heavier than its older brother, the Model S. The Model X will allegedly come to the New York Auto Show next week.
