A new 400bhp, 350lb ft V6 engine will head the list of revisions when Infiniti reveals its facelifted Q50 next month. The new-look exec is scheduled to go on sale later in 2016.
The 3.0-litre unit is lighter than the engine it replaces, as well as being more efficient – in fact, Infiniti says it will be the cleanest V6 it has ever made.
The revised Q50 will also be available with 2.0 petrol and 2.2 diesel engines, as well as a performance-tuned 302bhp hybrid system. In every case, a seven-speed auto will be standard – but you’ll get the choice of either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
In the cabin, there’s a new range-topping spec level called Premium Plus. This adds upgrades to the high-tech stuff, and there’s also a range of new driver-assist functions designed to keep the Q50 on the money in terms of safety.
Further improvements will include multi-mode suspension and revised steering – both of which will come as welcome news to critics of the Q50’s ride and handling. The new Direct Adaptive Steering system features active lane keeping software and, Infiniti says, mimics the feel of a traditional hydraulic set-up.
As well as having five pre-programmed drive modes, the new suspension also features a bespoke setting which owners can set up to suit their personal preferences. Infiniti promises a more agile, responsive drive as well as better ride quality.
