Spy photographers were successfully taking away some of the rare photographs of the next SLK roadster being readied by Mercedes Benz and it seems the company is not able to keep these spy photographers away from its plans. The spy photographers spotted the two-seater coupe model fitted with a retractable hardtop undergoing hot-weather testing alongside heavily claded prototypes of the 2011 CLS sports saloon this time. They came up with the photo shoots while the tests were undergoing in the infamous Death Valley located in the south west of United States.
A more angular design themed after the SLS AMG ‘Gullwing’ supercar is believed to the prominent among other features brought by the new 2011 model of the SLK. The angular design would be accompanied by a revised chassis in conjunction with new engine options. The new engine, as believed by the experts and analysts, would include a turbo diesel unit, which is an experiment of its type for the first time.
There is no clue as yet about the time and place where the new SLK will make its first public appearance, while the new CLS sports sedan is being tipped for its debut, in late September this year, in a Motor Show at Paris. It is learnt, from not so reliable sources though, that Mercedes may have planned unveiling towards the end of this year of a near-production concept model at either Paris or Los Angeles. In any case, the Stuttgart’s BMW Z4 fighter would hit the showrooms latest by the next summer.
