The Panamera in its latest version the new Turbo S was unveiled by Porsche. This model is the fastest and the most powerful car that Porsche has come out to date. The engine fit of this car is the 4.8 liter force fed V8 engine that is also used by them on their standard Turbo models. The upgrade to the engine consists of improved turbochargers with the turbine wheels made up of a titanium-aluminium alloy and a modified engine control management system.
Power output is raised in the process to 550 hp which is 50 hp above the standard. Peak torque is also raised from 700 to 750 Nm to 553 lb ft. The engine also has a “Sport” and “Sport Plus” mode which is part of the Sport Chrono Package Turbo package. In these modes the engine delivers 800 Nm or 590 lb ft torque due to the over boost function that is installed.
Acceleration factor of the Panamera when the Launch Control function is used is 3.8 seconds for the 0 to 100 kmph sprint or 3.6 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph sprint. Top speed of the car is 191 mph or 307 kmph. The standard Panamera Turbo on the other hand has an acceleration rating of 4.2 seconds for the 0 to 303 kmph or 188 mph sprint.
Even though the performance has been tweaked for higher figures, Porsche claims there is no change in the fuel consumption figures. The Panamera Turbo and the S version both have the same 15 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined [US], or 11.5 km/liter in the combined European cycle.
The Turbo S model is also installed with the active roll stabilization system (PDCC), the PTV Plus which provides for variable torque split at the rear wheels as also the Sport Chrono Package Turbo, which is meant for tuning the suspension settings and engine control.
20 inch turbo II alloy wheels and an increased rear axle track width as well as side skirts compared to that of the Porsche Exclusive range are the difference when it comes to the exterior make up. There is also the four-way rear spoiler which is part of the exterior changes. The upholstery of the Turbo S is made up of leather with two color scheme. The options of color for this are the black/cream and agate grey/cream combinations.
Sales of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S are expected to start this spring in the US. The base price has been set at $173,200, which does not include $975 for delivery and destination. In Europe the pricing has been set at €167,076 including VAT in Germany and expected to start in June.
