New Toyota “Sports Car” Series Will Be Revealed In Japan Next Month

It appears like Toyota fans might have more to commemorate beyond the launch of the new Supra. A report from Automotive News notes that the Japanese automaker is set to reveal a new “sports car” lineup next month in September.

Official details are limited, but the report notes the unnamed product line may look like Lexus’ F series, with new performance trims and packages for existing automobiles like the Camry, Corolla, and 86.

Regrettably, like so numerous other special Japanese cars, this brand-new series may not be available outside of Japan. Report notes a Toyota prepares to reveal the performance lineup at an event in Japan next month, leading us to think there’s a great chance this could end up being more JDM forbidden fruit.

Still, if the brand-new series achieves success and shows to be more than just wheel and bodykit bundles, Toyota might introduce a similar lineup under the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) badge stateside.

In preparation for the new Supra, Toyota just recently announced increased dedication to its GRMN offerings. These are cars developed under the internal Gazoo Racing Co. branch, a department recently restructured previously this month to develop future cars and special editions.

Toyota’s skunkworks just recently worked its magic on the Yaris GRMN, a brand new supercharged hot hatch that was launched previously this year in Europe.
