Next-generation Porsche hybrid system to be lighter, more powerfu

Porsche had recently introduced the Panamera S E-Hybrid, but now new details are starting to emerge about the company’s next-generation hybrid system.

Autocar said that the company is developing a new hybrid module that combines the electric motor and clutches into a single unit. It has reportedly been designed to fit into all future products including the 911.

The system is slated to use a more powerful electric motor that is air and liquid cooled. There are also reports of improved battery and a lighter wiring loom that will allegedly use aluminum instead of copper wire. The system could also support induction charging which would eliminate the need to plug in the car to recharge the battery.

There are rumors that Porsche is working on an advanced engine management system that will use GPS and other data to enable the car to select the optimal drive mode for the given situation.
