The 2015 Geneva Motor Show is going to open its doors to the public in not a very long time. As always, there must always be very interesting vehicles to show for during the event. This time, too, that is exactly the case, especially at the EDAG booth. The aforementioned automaker will finally be unveiling its Light Cocoon concept car during the automotive exhibition event that will be held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The company claims that the Light Cocoon concept vehicle will prove to be a compact sports car with a structure that has been optimized ‘bionically’, as the company describes it. In addition to that, the car in question will also feature an outer textile skin panel that is resistant to all weather conditions. The company emphasizes that the vehicle will come with organic structure that may resemble a skeleton.
As pointed out by Johannes Barckmann, the man behind the design department in EDAG, the company is trying to offer a true sustainable car. The vehicle it produces will be efficient, lightweight and it will have no waste left behind. As a matter of fact, this is where the EDAG Light Cocoon concept car originates from. It even sports a branch-like, stable load bearing structure that comes out of a 3D printer. This makes it possible for EDAG to use only the materials necessary, leaving behind no waste at all.
Interestingly enough, the EDAG Light Cocoon concept is actually four times lighter when compared to a standard piece of copy paper. This, according to EDAG, is just one among many reasons why its aforementioned concept vehicle is going to be very efficient. Unfortunately, the company refuses to provide even further details in respect to the Light Cocoon. Yet again, we won’t have to wait for too long, after all, as the 2015 Geneva Motor Show is likely to take place in March next year.
