Nissan has recently told that the BladeGlider concept has a chance of reaching the production phase.
The info was given by the chief planning officer of Nissan Andy Palmer while giving an interview to CAR. When Nissan introduced the BladeGlider concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in November 2013 they had stated that it has what it takes to become “the best handling production car in the world.” And now the executive of Nissan has stated that a production model derived from the concept is very much in the company’s mid-term plan and that they have an intention to do it.
Just to give you a brief about the concept, it has a 1+2 seating layout and adopts a 30:70 weight distribution with the two in-wheel electric motors and lithium-ion batteries at the back. The concepts front track is just one meter wide and the company claims that this technique has improved not only the car’s aerodynamics, but also its handling and agility.
However do not expect a production model in the near future since DeltaWing Racing has sued Nissan as they want to stop the Japanese marque from selling any type of car that features a delta wing shape.
