Nissan has informed recently that a Nismo-prepared version of the second-gen Qashqai is in the works.
The new Qashqai has just been launched and there are already talks about a more powerful Nismo version which could very well be a range topper. There is no info available of a launch date as of now but Nissan’s global product chief Andy Palmer has now revealed some preliminary details about the hotter Qashqai.
He states that the Qashqai Nismo will be more powerful version than the Juke Nismo which generates an output of 197 hp (147 kW) and torque of 249 Nm (184 lb-ft) from a 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter DOHC turbocharged gasoline engine. Andy did not exclude the possibility of seeing the uprated version of the engine that would be able to generate 215 hp (157 kW) from the Juke Nismo RS to find its way under the hood of the Qashqai Nismo.
In addition to receiving more power, the more potent Qashqai Nismo will also get other updates that would improve ride and handling of the car as well. The Nissan Qashqai Nismo could be revealed before the end of next year.
