Norway is known for its penchant to maintaining a clean environment. The government initiatives have made the citizens welcome electric vehicles as a popular mode of transportation. It is no surprise that the country is the leading consumer in the EV segment. That is why the French carmaker, Renault has launched its electric super-mini in Norway. Zoe, the only electric powered supermini from the French car maker has hit the showrooms lately.
The electric vehicle has been integrated on a platform similar to clio. The automobile manufacturer boasts Zoe’s usefulness in the urban roads and it has been branded as a city car. The wound rotor electric motor is capable of outputting 65kW of energy with a maximum torque of 220Nm. The electric vehicle also features a tyre specially designed for accommodating the requirements of electric vehicles and to increase the vehicle’s range.
Even though the official range points to 210 km on a NEDC cycle, it can be expected that the actual values will be lower in real conditions. When used on traffic congested urban roads, Zoe can give about 100 km to 150 kms depending on the season. Electric vehicles usually find success in Norway’s market thanks to the funding initiatives by the Government. Consumers of EVs get free public parking, low taxes, allowances on tolls and deduction of VAT.
The French car maker is hoping that Norway can provide more sales opportunities for the car. The car did not have a good showing in France with the number of vehicles sold being very less. Zoe is one of the few cars that were built as an electric only model. No other power trains or fuel options are available with this model. The higher end model comes with a special powering wall socket which can charge up to 80% in just 2 hours.
