The 8C Spider from the Alfa Romeo family scores heavily on the beauty stakes though the car has nothing much to boast of as a sports car. The German tuning company, Novitec Rosso that has taken up the project on this car therefore has concentrated on the mechanical hardware aspects of the car.
The firm has added a modified version of the supercharger system that is also used on the Maserati GT that has been worked on by the same firm. The other changes and interesting features that the firm has brought about on the 4.7 liter V8 engine are the new water-to-air intercooler with a dedicated radiator, custom injectors, a stainless steel high performance exhaust system and an ECU optimization package.
The total power output of the engine goes up by 150 hp with these performance upgrades. Hence the total power output now stands at an impressive 600 HP at 7,300 rpm, with peak torque also raised to 588 Nm (433.7 lb-ft) at 5,400 rpm. All this enhancement in the power figures has also added to the sportiness of the car which shows in its sprint times. The 0 to 100 kmph or 62 mph dash is now achieved in 3.9 seconds, definitely an improvement over the 4.2 seconds that the car was capable of in standard form. Also, the top speed has gone up from 290 kmph or 180 mph to 305 kmph or 190 mph.
For external modification there is the new set of alloy wheels of 21 inch diameter for the front and 22 inches for the rear. The wheels have been covered with Pirelli tires of size 255/30 ZR 21 for the front and 315/25 ZR22 for the rear.
Customers would also get the Alfa 8C Spider’s interior with leather and Alcantara if the option is exercised as well as a height adjustable threaded coil-over suspension as part of the package.
