BMW M5 CSLTo celebrate 25 years of M5, BMW has created a special lightweight version of the E60 M5, that M division’s head of development, Albert Biermann calls, “the M5 CSL we never built.”

5.0-liter V10 capacity is increased to 5.5-liters and according to Mr. Biermann power output is around 580 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.

To get more air to the engine there is an additional air duct in the place where the license plate is usually situated.

Power is sent to rear-wheel via modified 7-speed double clutch gearbox from the M3, that can be operated via steering wheel mounted paddles or push/pull gear lever.

M5 CSL is about 50 kg lighter thanks to a carbon fiber roof and carbon fiber seats on the front(there are no rear seats).

No official performance numbers have been released, but according to Herr Biermann the M5 CSL did the Nurburgring track in under 8 minutes, that’s 20 seconds faster than the current M5.

As this is a one-off special model, don’t expect to see it at your local BMW dealership.
