R Hybrid’s fantastic performance at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, we are now eager to gain more experience with the hybrid technology on a variety of race tracks. At the same time, we would like to show fans and customers in our most important markets how our ‘race lab’ performs under racing conditions.” There are further plans by Porsche to include the 911 GT3 R Hybrid in the season final races at the LeMans International cup scheduled for November 7th and then the six hour race at Zhuhai in China.

The power house of the GT 3 R is a combination of one 4.0 liter flat six cylinder engine developing 480 HP and an additional two electric motor, each developing 60 KW. There is the electrical flywheel power generator that is installed in the cockpit just next to the driver. The unit is the one that transfers energy to the motors and charges the battery when brakes are applied. When brakes are applied the two motors act as generators.
