While we are all awaiting the grand launch of the new Porsche 911 / 991 at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, some of our photographer buddies are still hard at work, striving to capture images of the car in its blacked out look. Their latest images show the upcoming edition of the Porsche Turbo Coupe blazing the tracks while revealing a refreshed rear that is marked out by new rear lights.
The upcoming 911 is going to be 56 mm longer so that the over all length of the car will be about 4.49 meters. The wheelbase has also been stretched by 4 inches in the new 911. The design will have glimpses of the Panamera and the 918 Spyder concept and the car will be seen having a larger front wing pontoons, lightly deeper side sills, door-mounted wing mirrors, and a redesigned rear end.
The output of the 2012 model of the Porsche 911 Turbo is expected to be around the 550 HP mark, a bit higher than the 530 HP that the current breed of 911s are capable of. It will also have both brake regeneration and stop start systems, both of which are expected to bring down fuel consumption by about 12 percent. The new Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox will also be there on offer in the new 911. With 7 forward gears, the new gearbox can be considered the perfect combination of superior driving comfort of converter automatic transmission and the dynamic gearshift of a sequential racing gearbox.
