by SpeedLux

The Porsche 918 Spyder is inching closer to production phase and still the model remains unsold and so the company is reportedly making all efforts to ensure that the model is a sellout.

The company is inviting potential customers to private viewings and exclusive events in cities such as Dallas, Las Vegas, New York and Pebble Beach. The United States is expected to be the Spyder’s largest market with at least 190 out of the 918 models destined for the US market.

As previously reported, the Porsche 918 Spyder comes fitted with a 4.6-liter V8 engine that can generate 608 HP (447 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque. It is backed up by two electric motors which can produce 156 HP (115 kW) and approximately 129 HP (95 kW) and they power each axle. This enables the model to have a combined maximum output of massive 887 HP (661 kW) and more than 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.

The company claims that the model will be able to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds and can hit a top speed in excess of 340 kmph (211 mph).
