Porsche’s 918 hybrid super car has already created a fan following with some 900 of them being really serious of the car, a figure that perhaps will be the guiding point for executives to decide whether to make the green Carrera GT successor a production reality.
The Porsche 918 concept was first unveiled at this year’s edition of the Geneva Motor Show and powering the super car is a 500-horsepower 3.4 liter V8 mated to electric motors that should see the car return 78 mpg or 3 liters / 100km, and reach the 100km/h (62mph) mark in 3.2 seconds. Also, it will speed around the ‘Ring faster than what the Carrera GT, its predecessor could do, company sources revealed.
However, there’s still the need for a sound commitment from about 100 more fans to make the 918 hybrid super car viable for production, as Wolfgang Dürheimer, the Development Head of Porsche reported. He also went on to add the he is confident that the 1000 confirmed parties will be found soon enough.
