It’s clear that Jaguar plan on offering the same treatment found in the XKR-S to other models in the line-up. Now it’s time to see the upcoming XKR-S Convertible which will actually arrive before the XFR-S because spy photographers managed to take some shots with the upcoming model. This is the first time we see the convertible version of this 550 hp strong monster Jaguar.
Jaguar are at the Nürburgring to give the XKR-S Convertible some tuff days with all kind of tests. As you can see from these pictures, the design of the convertible XKR-S really won’t change much from the coupe model. The new model comes with the same wide wheel arches, front and rear carbon spoilers, and extra front air scoops as found on the coupe. Also the front and rear lights seems to be similar with those found on the 2012 XKR-S.
Being conservative, under the hood, Jaguar will keep the same AJ-V8 all-aluminum engine with an output of 550 HP and 501 lb/ft of torque. Considering that the new model will be fitted with the same engine, the sprint from 0 to 60 mph will remain in the 4 second range, while top speed will also be about 180 mph, but these numbers might be the subject to minor changes depending on the weight of the new model, considering it is a convertible and will be a little lighter.
Considering that the Coupe is priced at £97,000, the Convertible is expected to be priced close to £105,000 when it goes on sale early next year – making this the first Jaguar since the XJ220 to cost in excess of £100,000.
Finally, we have a question for you: Do you think that the XKR-S Convertible will be just as popular as the Coupe version?
