The production version of the MXT from Mastretta would be up on display at the Paris Motor Show which is now just round the corner. The original concept of this car was created in 2007 and sales of this sports car was supposed to commence last year itself. The launch however has been delayed into 2011. The UK market is what the Mastretta figures to be their best bet and they have targets of selling 150 cars on an annual basis in this market. The car is expeceted to be a counterpart of the Lotus Elise in Mexico.
Majority of the production (close to 70 percent) would be available in the US and Europe. For the pre-production model the engine is actually a Volkswagen unit that the TFSI has been fitted with. The production version however would have the turbocharged Ford Duratec motor. This motor delivers 238 bhp. Weight of the car itself is 900 kg and this makes it compatible to the Elise. The body of the MXT is made up of composite material and the chassis is aluminum bonded with power train located in the mid region of the car.
“We start our official communications with your media sharing some news related to the brand and the upcoming unveiling of the MXT in its production version. On the occasion of the 2010 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris, France, next October, the production version of the Mastretta MXT will make its world debut in preparation for its introduction in the mexican and international markets.” stated Mastretta in the official statement.
