It is being rumored that the Range Rover’s Evoque model would be getting a 2.0 liter EcoBoost turbo charged four cylinder engine for itself which would be of the Ford make. Though the idea itself appears long drawn there is some sense when looked at with more intent.
The new owners of Jaguar Land Rover are Tata Motors. They have a full house as of now in the development segment of new models. If they approach a third party who is capable of supplying the complex and expensive parts required in their high cost projects would mean a lot of saving by way of time and expenditure on their part.
Installing the 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine would give the Evoque a thrust of 200 hp. The car would accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in near about 8 seconds to reach the top speed of 140 mph. Fuel efficiency also would be improved and stay at around 30 mpg.
With the EcoBoost there is the possibility of using the dual clutch transmission system made by Getrag which is used on the Ford and thus can be used on the Fiesta.
The only fact known as of now and confirmed of the vehicle is that it is a front wheel drive car and nothing much else is known. The front wheel drive has been known since the car was displayed during the Evoque’s Kensington Palace unveiling event.
A concept car was however displayed with a 2.0 liter diesel electric hybrid powertrain. This is yet a conceptual idea and may take a long time in fructification. The 2012 would be available in the US market by the fall of 2011.
