The two door Range Rover Evoque from Land Rover is the new small sized SUV that is sure to make a place amongst the people who are style conscious.
This model is derived from the LRX concept model that had been previewed two years ago and is similar in looks and basic style. What was seen at the unveiling event held in England however is a version that’s smaller than the concept shown two years ago.
Details of the interior of the Evoque were not disclosed by Land Rover, which has been kept secret till the full display takes place at the Paris Motor Show in late September. Sales of the car start next summer in Europe and in the fall for the US.
The features that are known are that it is the lightest and smallest car and is also the most fuel efficient car in its genre. The platform used for the making of this car is the same platform that was used to make the Freelander. There has though been numerous re-engineering processes that has taken place on this platform before its use to make the present car. Less than 30 percent of the platform components have been re-used.
Even though not much is known about the interior of the Evoque, it can be expected to be a four seater with an adjustable fifth seating position. The back seat can be folded and this would give it extra cargo loading space. There would be an optional sunroof of full length.
This is what the managing director of Land Rover, Phil Popham has to say of the Evoque: “The all-new Range Rover Evoque is an important step for the future continued success and growth of the brand.”
Popham further added: “Customers can be confident that the new car will be premium, luxurious and just as special as the other Range Rover models. Its sporting looks and unique qualities will open the brand to a new group of customers who may not have considered a Range Rover product before.”
The Evoque is being made with female drivers in mind and not for rough terrain driving as such; therefore even though the car would have four wheel drive the balance features would not be for off the road driving purposes.
For names, the car has had many an option and yet to be finalised between Storm, Ventura and RRX. To keep up with fashion trends and effects, pop singer Victoria Beckham has been included as the consultant to this entire project.
The rolling out ceremony of the Ranger Rover Evoque was matched with the 40th anniversary of the Range rover line.
