Did you happen to like the Nissan Qashqai when it was first introduced some time ago? If so, chances are, you will like this new vehicle model from Renault as well. The French automaker has officially announced that it is going to present a new vehicle model dubbed the Kadjar, which will reportedly use the platform of the Nissan Qashqai, in the near future. It is said that this vehicle will come in the form of a compact crossover.
Set to make an appearance completely undisguised on February 2, 2015, the car is named after KAD and JAR. For those who wonder, the term KAD is actually inspired by the term ‘quad’. This refers to the 4-wheel-drive (4WD) drivetrain of the car. Meanwhile, the term JAR refers to two French words, which are, ‘agile’ and ‘jaillir’, which mean ‘agility’ and ‘showing up from somewhere all of a sudden’, respectively.
Renault has yet to provide the public with any official teaser pictures and videos so far. However, the company claims that these will become available after February 2, 2015. The car will most likely use the chassis of the 2nd generation Qashqai from Nissan. After all, the car actually uses the CMF platform, which is developed by Renault, in association with Nissan.
The Renault Kadjar will be slotted a level above the Captur. The car is expected to make its global debut during the upcoming Geneva Motor Show event, which is going to happen in March this year. Then, the car will go on sale this fall. With that being said, keen buyers will already be able to check out the pricing of the vehicle before this fall itself. The French company has also mentioned that it will launch the next generation Renault Koleos in the year 2016.
