After seven years since the first generation of Nissan Maxima-based SM7 entered the Asian market in 2004, Renault Samsung Motors decided to unveil the new SM7. This new model promises to set a new benchmark in the saloon segment of the Korean market with premium features and biggest interior space comparing to its rivals. Now Renault’s South Korean arm has published additional details for the new SM7 sedan.
The new SM7 has grown in size offering improved interior space over its predecessor. Compared to the previous generation the new SM7, this new model features a more spacious cabin, especially at the rear where passengers will sit more comfortably due to the extended knee space, while in terms of design the car looks more upmarket, due to its prominent grille and the simple yet unique headlights and taillights. According to the company, knee room for rear passengers is up by more than 70mm over the previous SM7.
“All-New SM7 is Renault Samsung Motors’ new flagship and delivers everything customers expect of a big premium saloon, including refined, luxurious styling, exceptional quality, and outstanding comfort and driving pleasure thanks to the contribution of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s world class technological expertise. All-New SM7 will set new standards in Korea’s big family saloon car market,” said Renault Samsung Motors CEO Jean-Marie Hurtiger
Renault Samsung SM7 will be powered by two Nissan sourced engines: one is a 2.5-litre V6 producing 190 HP and 243 Nm of torque which will require 9-litres of fuel per 100 Km and the other is a 3.5-litre V6 packing 258 HP and 330 Nm of torque.
