Report : 2014 Mercedes C-Class to be lighter & larger

Recently some new details of the 2014 Mercedes C-Class have started to emerged after being spied numerous times of these upcoming model.

The 2014 Mercedes C-Class is set to ride on modular rear-drive architecture and will be slightly larger than its predecessor and adopt a swoopy design that copies the CLA. The increase in size is mainly on account of more accommodating cabin with additional rear seat legroom and a larger trunk that will hold around 500 liters (17.6 cubic feet) of luggage. However inspite of increase in size, the sedan will reportedly weigh 70 kg (154 lbs) less than its predecessor model.

Details about engine and power specifications are not available but are expected to be as follows:
• 2.2-liter CDI four-cylinder with outputs of 170 HP (125 kW), 204 HP (150 kW) and 231 HP (170 kW)
• 1.6-liter four-cylinder with output of 156 HP (114 kW)
• 2.0-liter four-cylinder with outputs of 184 HP (135 kW), 211 HP (155 kW) and 252 HP (185 kW)
• 3.0-liter V6 with output of 333 HP (245 kW)

There are chances of hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants as well as an AMG model with a 4.0-liter V8 engine that will be able to develop around 462 HP (340 kW).
