A new competition arises between German luxury brands because Mercedes-Benz plans a new model to compete with BMW. Now, after the success of the BMW X6 Mercedes-Benz also plan a SUV-coupe modeled after the BMW.
According to AutoBild, this new model will be called “Mercedes MLC” and it will be launched in 2014.
Mercedes MLC is based on the M-Class , but looks completely different. Grille, headlights and tail remember of the flat Limousine Coupe CLS. The MLC want to be a looker, one who deliberately polarized and perhaps a little provocative.
Technically this new model is very similar with M-Class all-wheel-drive, but without the special off-road capabilities. The ML 350 is motivate by a new 3.5-liter direct-injection V6 engine, which produces 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Also new is the seven-speed automatic transmission to which the motor pairs. If you prefer diesel to traditional gasoline, the ML 350 BlueTec boasts a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that’s rated at 240 horses and an impressive 455 lb-ft of torque. Both M-Class variants come standard with 4Matic all-wheel-drive.
According to AutoBild, the MLC’s engines range from 265-hp diesel engine to the AMG version with 544 hp. And prices are expected to start at around € 62 000, which isn’t that much for a car like this.
