The 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 and 2012 Dodge Charger SRT-8 are powered by massive 6.4 liter Hemi V8’s that pump out a spleen crushing 470 horsepower and 470 lbs/ft of torque. Is this a lack of power? It isn’t. Well we all know that in this world are many people who are hard to satisfied,so they pay big bucks and taking it to a tuner, but now this will change.
According to Motorauthority, Dodge’s newly-formed SRT brand is planning a factory-option supercharger for the LX-platform SRT8 cars that’ll boost the new 6.4-liter HEMI as high as 570 horsepower.
And that’s not all…
This massive power needs some control, so this new engine will supposedly be mated to a new eight speed automatic gearbox. This new engine can be implemented on those SRT models which are based on the LX platform. Still, Dodge Challenger SRT-8 which is based on a tweaked LX platform may be an exception.
So far pricing remains unknown. Considering that the information comes from a dependable source, if you’re in the market for an LX-platform SRT8 you might want to hold onto your cash for another year to get the big dog. Of course, it’s likely to be offered as an available dealer-installed upgrade to existing SRT8s, too, so maybe you can go ahead and pull the trigger now.
