Report: Entry-level Jeep to be smaller than the Buick Encore

Jeep has recently revealed some new details about the company’s upcoming entry-level model.

The company CEO Mike Manley said in an interview to Edmunds that the crossover will be 4.2 meters (165.35 inches) long which makes it about 77mm (3.05 inches) shorter than the Buick Encore, Chevrolet Trax and Opel / Vauxhall Mokka.

Given its pint-sized dimensions, he further expects that the model will be cross-shopped with small sedans and hatchbacks. According to him, the model will be spacious and competitive from a ride and fuel economy perspective. This could mean tough competition for other models around in the market.

As reported previously, the entry-level Jeep will ride on the Small Wide platform and be built at Fiat’s Melfi plant in Italy. The model will be launched in the coming year and will eventually spawn the basis for the Fiat 500X.
