A few weeks ago we presented you an article called “2012 Ferrari 458 Spider Is Coming Soon.” Now the rumors confirms because Ferrari prepares for the launch of a raft of new models and the 458 Spider is set for Frankfurt Debut.
According to Automotive News, next month, at the Frankfurt show , Ferrari will debut the 458 Spider, which will replace the 430 Spider. The powertrain will be unchanged, while a retractable hard top will replace the canvas top offered on the 430. This car will get the same 570 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque 4.5-liter V-8 found in the hard-top, though could be slightly slower due to the extra weight required for its folding roof mechanism and chassis strengthening. Sales in Europe begin in September and U.S. shipments follow in the first quarter of 2012.
2012 also comes with the replacements for the 599 GTB Fiorano and Enzo supercar.
The 599 GTB Fiorano will be replaced with a redesigned model still known by its code-name, F152. It seems that the new car will remain a two-seat coupe with rear drive and a direct-injection V-12 longitudinal engine mounted in the front. The model will debut in March at the Geneva auto show, with European sales to begin in the summer and U.S. shipments by year end.
According to the same report, the successor to the Enzo limited-edition supercar is set to go on sale in 2012. This will be an all-carbon fiber model and it will be powered with a new, normally aspirated V-12. Also it will herald weight-reduction and fuel-saving technologies that Ferrari plans to adapt to its entire range by the end of decade.
Surprises from the Italian brand does not end here because, in 2013 Ferrari is adding a freshening for Ferrari California and a sportier variant, the 458 Scuderia. This model will be quicker than the regular 458 Italia and will borrow a number of elements from the hardcore 458 Challenge race car. Likely to come with a new gear ratios and a more tightly calibrated tune for the 458’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission. There should also be stiffer suspension, uprated brakes, stickier rubber and a lighter chassis–we can’t wait.
This raft of new models is completed by the FF model, which is the first all-wheel-drive Ferrari. This car debuted in March at the Geneva show, went on sale in July in Europe and, by the end of the year will arrive in U.S. too. While Ferrari is building 800 units a year of the four-seat FF coupe, production is sold out until the end of 2012. Ferrari FF is powered by a new 660-hp, 6.3-liter V-12 direct-injection engine that takes the car to 208 mph.
