Report: General Motors mid-size trucks could drop the Colorado & Canyon names in the US

General Motors North America region President Mark Reuss recently revealed fresh details about the company’s plans to bring the Chevrolet and Holden Colorado to the US markets.

Ruess was present at the Dawda Mann Automotive Industry Breakfast in Detroit and he stated that the vehicles that is being planned to be bought cannot be considered as replacements of Canyon and Colarodo. Infact to confirm this fact, the company may think of giving different names to the models so that they are not linked to the predecessors.

He also stated that the company had plans to offer the Chevrolet and GMC variants to different buyers. He explained the company would like to have a truck like a Chevrolet midsize truck which will target the West Coast with a lifestyle truck that is really beautiful and fun.

There are no details available as to what will the type of engines that would be fitted in these models but Reuss confirmed that the engine would not be shared with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Infact he even hinted that the company was looking at the diesel variant currently and more keen towards these versions.

Both the trucks would be built at the company’s Wentzville Assembly Plant in Missouri. The trucks are expected to go on sale somewhere in second half of the next year.
