The life of BMW M5 E60 Sedan and touring is about to come a graceful and successful end. It sold 25,548 of this car during its five year span of existence. The most successful market for this model was undoubtedly the US where 8,800 units have been sold till date. Next is the German market which had 1,647 units sold through it. For the European market the combined figure for Great Britain and Ireland stands at 1,776 units. The fourth place for sales goes to Japan where 1,357 units were sold where the BMW M5 saloon had been the rave and then 512 units were sold in Italy.
The next generation BMW M5 E60 would have for its engine a 5.5 liter V 10 which delivers 500 hp of max power while its revving at 7750 rpm and develops a peak torque figure of 383 lb-ft at the time when its running at 6100 rpm. Production of the new generation car would be done at the same site as the previous car.
2011 has been slated as the year in which the new BMW M5 would be unveiled and will have under its hood the same V8 engine used in X5 and X6M but modified to deliver 585-600 hp. The acceleration time for the 0 to 62 mph sprint stands at 4.4 seconds and the top speed would be 155 mph or 188 mph if the optional M driver’s package is installed.
