The Spyker Cars NV Chairman Victor Muller is reported to have announced the movement of production facility within the country if the annual volume of Saab’s vehicles in the Chinese market reached 10,000 units.

Muller has announced, speaking at the Automotive News Europe Congress, company’s aim to sell over 10,000 cars in China annually in the forthcoming three years time. He declared that if this goal is achieved the company will be approaching local manufacturers to explore the possibilities of localizing production within the country. Saab will announce new Chinese local distribution arrangements in the next few months.

Spyker Cars NV, which is a Dutch manufacturer of luxury sports cars, had taken over Saab from General Motors Co earlier this year. Muller expects that Saab will be “cash positive” at the end of 2011 however assumes that “nothing strange” is likely to happen in the auto industry or in the global markets. The company forebodes that by the year 2012, Saab is likely to have a much lower breakeven point as against under its previous owners i.e. GM at an annual 85,000 units sales. Muller also exacted that the company anticipates the brand to hit a volume of 125,000 units by the year 2012. Muller added that in 2008, Saab sold 98,000 cars globally. He further said that sales would “bounce back” again in next two years as the automobile manufacture would show case its new offering including the 9-5, 9-4X crossover and a new 9-3.
