The Fifty-Sixth San Francisco International Auto Show featured Thanksgiving morning, having 38 manufacturers presenting over 600 cars, including Concept vehicles, SUVs, trucks and more.
One of the Bay Area’s two huge stops for auto followers — the Silicon Valley International Auto Show sets to Jan. 9-12 — the San Francisco event offers cars for all, from high-performance sports cars to electric vehicles to a “Sponge Bob”-themed SUV.
In the the offerings from GM will be its model next-gen 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, which was named Automobile of the Year by Automobile Magazine recently this month. The new Corvette is completely reinnovated, except for two parts — a roof latch and a cabin filter.
It comes with a base price of $52,000. An additional $3,000 Z51 performance upgrade gives the driver to switch into five different performance types and adjust a dozen functions — from steering to brakes to exhaust — that “transform the Corvette from a good track car to an amazing performance car,” said spokesman of General Moros, Shad Balch.
By 2015, Ford thinks to increase its fuel-efficient EcoBoost technology to ninety-five percent of its fleet.
With its trucks, Ford continues to be one of the prominent in the van market. At this year’s auto show, Ford will appear the American version of the seven-passenger Transit Connect commercial van. Which is common in Europe.
For less than $30,000, Toyota’s 2014 Highlander SUV also has been overhauled with a reinnovanted interior, larger and wider exterior that can be comfortable for about eight people.
At the auto show, Toyota also will show a special “Sponge Bob”-themed Highlander redirected to families having young children.
Toyota also has updated the next generation 2014 Tundra truck.
