Every year in Geneva there are plenty of mainstream car manufacturers revealing their long-awaited concepts, or soon-to-be production vehicles. At the same time, there are small, yet interesting concepts coming from small design schools or independent designers. As always, Franco Sbarro, an Italian designer revealed such a vehicle in Switzerland.
Although we expected Sbarro to give us the F1for3 concept for Delphi, we got the Intencity shown in this article.
The Intencity isn’t really a Franco Sbarro work, but more of a design pictured by his students’ imagination. This concept is an electric sports vehicle with a 1+1 seating system.
Power comes from a 100-kilowatt electric motor that gets its juice from a 96-cell lithium-phosphate battery. Range is estimated at around 180 kilometers (or about 112 miles). The weight is rather low, at just 980 kg.
The wheels and the Recaro seats are provided by OZ.
Although this concept does look interesting, more important companies like Pininfarina or Bertone also presented plenty of designs, which are more likely to be chosen to go into production by manufacturers. Nevertheless, the Sbarro Intencity remains a sports car that catches the eye with its innovative, futuristic design, and I think no one would mind if some of its elements were to be used on other vehicles.
