Seat Ibiza ST FR With 150HP Caught Testing: Spy Shots

by Sebastian Bivin

It seems that soon we should expect a new release from Seat. Although until now it weren’t a strong threat to major brands, it seems that this time gives Seat gives us what they have better.

Alfa Romeo has recently gained momentum so people at Volkswagen have decided to give an answer to this, enhancing Seat’s lineup with the most powerful engines available in the group currently.

For instance, let’s take the Ibiza Sports Tourer (ST). In Germany, the small station wagon is offered with three petrol units: a 70HP 1.2-liter three-pot, an 85HP 1.4L and a 105HP 1.2-liter TSI, and three diesels: a 75HP 1.2 TDI, a 90HP 1.6 TDI and a 105HP 1.6 TDI.

This time Seat is preparing an FR version of the Ibiza ST fitted with the same 1.4-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 150-horsepower found in the hatchback model. But better late than never…

Prototype, without any camouflage, was captured by photographers during testing. It features the FR logo up front as well as larger alloy wheels shod in lower profile tires and visible twin tailpipes at the back.

Is likely Seat may also introduce a more aggressive looking version under theBocanegra nameplate inspired by last year’s prototype shown at the 2010 Wörthersee GT festival.

Ibiza ST FR will be released at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but this isn’t official confirmed yet.
