Sin Cars has more than twice the cost of its R1 cars in a bid to attract the luxurious driver market.
The R1 was first unveiled in track-only prototype in 2013 during the Autosport International show. In 2014, a road-going prototype was revealed.
When the car was first revealed, Sin Cars stated the new model would cost ₤ 72,000 in the UK, pitching it versus high-end sports cars consisting of the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type Coupé. Now, however, the business states it has actually raised the price to ₤ 145,000, after re-developing aspects of the R1 to appeal to luxurious drivers.
Speaking specifically to Autocar, Sin Cars’s Rosen Daskalov stated the prototype displayed in 2014 “had no real interior, no pricey electronic gadgets. We aimed to make everything as cheap as possible. I saw that we are not able to compete [with rivals] with this ideology due to the fact that the automobile is not enough to bring in the gentleman motorists”.
At its new cost of ₤ 145,000, the R1 will be competing in the very same area as the Porsche 911 R and McLaren’s 570S, that are priced from ₤ 136,901 and ₤ 143,250.
The very first road-going R1 has currently been sold to a customer in France, and Daskalov states orders for 10 more automobiles have been received.
Clients can order the R1 with a range of Chevrolet-sourced V8 engines. A naturally aspirated 6.2-litre unit develops 444bhp, and 7.0-litre naturally aspirated and 6.2-litre supercharged variations create 523bhp and 641bhp respectively.
