Potentially to tease the world’s public, Mercedes-Benz, a luxury brand from the German soil, has taken the liberty of publishing an official design sketch of its upcoming GLC Coupe model. Based on recent reports, the car will most likely make an official appearance at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, an event slated for kickoff later this month.
To tell the truth, however, it seems that the aforementioned German automotive marquee is rather late to announce its crossover coupe to the world. The thing is, its German rival, BMW, had already revealed the latest X6 variant first and won customers’ heart. The X6 was meant to rival the GLE Coupe from Mercedes-Benz and it seemed that BMW had done a great job with it. Now, Mercedes-Benz, which is owned by Daimler, is seemingly planning to rival the latest generation X4 from BMW. As mentioned earlier, this new vehicle from Mercedes-Benz will bear the GLC Coupe moniker. The car will be coming in a form that is very close to the final production version and will go on sale in approximately the oncoming 2017.
The upcoming GLC Coupe from German will be taking advantage of the chassis used for the company’s C-Class W205 model. Interestingly, in addition to the typical petrol and diesel engines, it is said that customers will be able to opt for a plug-in hybrid variant of the model as well. Speaking of the latter, its setup will be identical to that of the Mercedes-Benz C350e.
More details in regards to the upcoming GLC Coupe from the luxury German automaker are very likely to come on April 20, 2015. That is the date when this year’s Shanghai Auto Show is going to kick off.
