The automaker Skoda has taken the chance to present its latest creation to this year’s Geneva Motor Show automotive exhibition event. Designed as a special edition, the Skoda Octavia RS 230 is going to offer a number of mechanical upgrades for keen buyers to enjoy.
For a starter, those who are keen on purchasing this vehicle model in particular from Skoda will have the liberty to choose whether they want a combi or a liftback variant. No matter which variant they choose, however, buyers of the model will be granted an exclusive turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder TSI engine. Running on petrol for its fuel, this engine is capable of delivering a total power output of 230 HP. That is 10 HP more powerful than the regular variant of the model. As such, the special edition model needs only 6.7 seconds to accelerate from an idle position to the speed of 100 km/h. In addition to that, the speed of the car will keep on increasing until it achieves the figure of 250 km/h.
With the Octavia RS 230, it is actually the first time ever that the automaker Skoda equips its car with a differential front axle lock as a standard feature. This lock can be controlled electronically. According to the automaker, this locking mechanism promises drivers of the model with a dynamic cornering maneuverability. Customers are also free to choose between a 6-speed manual transmission (standard) and a 6-speed DSG transmission (optional).
During the automotive exhibition event that is currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, the automaker Skoda has also made an announcement, hinting that the Octavia RS 230 special edition model is coming to the market no later than June 2015.
