Skoda Octavia Scout revealed with off-road looks, all-wheel drive and high ground clearance

by David Bond

Skoda has recently released preliminary details and photos of the Octavia Scout prior to its public debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Skoda is in the process of expanding the Octavia lineup by introducing a rugged-looking Scout version based on the Combi. The model will be distinguished by features such as black lower bumpers with silver inserts, a wider front air intake and black protective side mouldings. More importantly, the Octavia Scout will have an increased ground clearance by 33mm compared to the regular model which means its more suitable for light off-road adventures.

Other highlights of the Scout variant include an all-wheel drive system with Haldex 5 coupling which will work together with two diesels and one gasoline engine probably taken from the standard Octavia. The vehicle will ride on bespoke 17-inch alloy wheels and has also received restyled fog lights together with a unique leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel.

Details are limited as of now about the model but we can surely expect further details to be disclosed next month in Geneva, while sales are expected to commence in the later part of the year.
