Skoda SUV confirmed for 2016 launch

by SpeedLux

Skoda has recently informed that an SUV will be launched in the year 2016.

Speaking to the British magazine Autocar, Skoda boss Winfried Vahland informed that the new model is going to ride on Volkswagen‘s MQB platform and will be based on the production version of the CrossBlue concept which is due for a market release somewhere in 2015. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle is expected to be about 4.6 meters long and will be offered with five and seven-seat configurations. In addition, customers will have the possibility to select from standard FWD and optional AWD features.

Details were not provided about the engines, but he did confirm that the lineup will not go beyond a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter motor and so it is most likely going to be started at a 1.6-liter turbodiesel. One of the derivatives is programmed to receive a diesel electric hybrid arrangement and will likely be the most economical version of the range.

In related news, Skoda is also in the process of preparing another Yeti-sized crossover which will look more like an SUV but details have not been revealed regarding the same.
