Only recently, someone has managed to secure some images of what seems to be the next generation Aston Martin DB9, which may well be targeted for launch in the fiscal year 2017. The car was spotted being evaluated by the luxury British automaker at the Nurburgring circuit.
Speaking of the upcoming successor to the DB9 from the land of the Great Britain, it seems that the car will have a rather long wheelbase, to begin with. In addition to that, it also features an engine hood with a design that is different from that of its predecessor. The front bumper of the model looks new as well. It looks wider when compared to the front bumper featured on the outgoing model.
It seems that the new DB9 is going to borrow plenty of the styling cues from the Aston Martin DB10 concept car. If you remember correctly, the latter will be used in an upcoming James Bond movie, the SPECTRE. As pointed out by Marek Reichman, the design director of Aston Martin, the design will be modern and fresh and that it is going to have some revolution of sorts.
Speaking of the upcoming DB9, the British marquee had actually mentioned before that though the new model would retain the DB moniker, it would not feature the letter 10 to differentiate the new from the old model. Yet again, this is not surprising, keeping in mind how used the DB9 moniker to replace the predecessor, the DB7. So, there has never been a DB8.
In terms of performance, the car is most likely to pack a 6.0L V12 engine, which has enough potential to deliver 517 HP and 620 Nm of power output and torque, respectively. The car is also reported to be using an entirely new platform. The new platform extensively uses the aluminum material which results in the new model being lighter than the outgoing one. The car is expect to come in its concept form no later than this year and sales could begin either late 2016 or early 2017.
