A prototype SsangYong crossover has been caught under lens by some of the spy photographers ahead of an official launch scheduled for late 2014.
Recently SsangYong had released a couple of renders with a new concept called XLV which will be showcased at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show that would be held in March. Most likely its production version is the prototype seen in these spy pics taken on a frozen lake in northern Sweden. Under the hood, we can expect power to be derived from a 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter gasoline engine coupled as standard to a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed CVT.
The model will be primarily destined for China and will be fitted as standard with a stop/start system. Production of the model will take place in South Korea yet it won’t be more expensive than its China-made competitors due to a trade deal between the two countries which exempts South Korean cars from the high import taxes applicable in China.
Further details are expected to be out soon in coming months as the launch time comes around the corner.
