Subaru has officially taken the wraps off their new WRX STI NBR Challenge.

Set to compete in the Nürburgring 24 Hour Race, the car will take part in the SP3T class which was designed for turbocharged models with an engine displacement of 2.0-liters or less. So in order to comply with the rules, the car has been fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that generates an output of 340 HP (250 kW) and 461 Nm (340 lb-ft) of torque. It is further mated to a six-speed sequential transmission which has an STI metal clutch.

Besides being more powerful than the road-going model, the race car also comes equipped with modified bumpers, carbon fiber canards and a prominent rear wing. Other highlights of the model include a ventilated hood, lightweight windows, a track-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes and 18-inch BBS wheels with Dunlop tires.

Behind the wheels of the car would be Toshihiro Yoshida, Kota Sasaki, Carlo van Dam and Marcel Lasée. It will be entered into two VLN endurance races – on April 12th and May 17th – before competing in the 24 hour race to be held on June 21st and 22nd.
