Issues at one of its providers has forced German automaker BMW to stop production in Leipzig and might hit its plants in China and South Africa, German magazine Focus reported.
The publication stated issues at one of BMW’s Italian providers of parts for its steering technology was the factor for the disturbance.
Mentioning a BMW spokesman, Focus reported that the company has stopped output at its plant located in Leipzig, Germany since Friday and might have to minimize production in China and South Africa.
Production in Munich was also lowered for 2 days recently, the magazine reported.
Focus stated the disturbances would cost BMW double-digit millions of euros a day, without mentioning source of its information.
BMW had not made any comments yet.
