Here comes a tuning package from Switzer Performance and its called the Switzer GT-R E900. Designed for the Nissan GT-R, the tuning package aims to transform the GT-R into a 900 hp monster. And the trick lies in the choice of fuel to power the Nissan GT-R as it is ethanol that is now going to be used with the GT-R tuning package and this gives the engineers to improve power to a massive 900 hp.
The GT-R P800 tuning package had used petrol to give an output of 800 hp. The GT-R E900 therefore is a massive leap and an upgrade on the GT-R P800. New Zealand outfitters Dodson Motorsports was approached and they have built the transmission system. Whether the transmission system would be able to deliver the entire 900 hp being developed by the engine is yet unsure, as per Tym Switzer the company’s founder member. However he is sure that due to the large clutch area the system would ensure smooth driving much like smooth sailing at all speeds.
For this reason the company had decided on the E85 rather than racing fuel. This would also create a race gas package and the customer would not be stuck to the “fuel in his garage” syndrome.
Using E85 is a very common feature in Ohio where Swizer’s headquarters is located. Large areas of this region are covered with cornfields. The drawbacks of E85 are that one need to increase the size of the injectors and the entire fuel system has to be redesigned.
Notwithstanding the disadvantages of using E85 the advantages and specially the boost to power to 900 hp overshadows the disadvantages. Without knowing the specific performance statistics yet it is felt the pickup would be 60 to 130 mph in six seconds. The pricing of the package is yet to be known.
