Among the many world premieres that took place during the recently concluded 2011 Auto Shanghai event (April 21- 28), one that too deserves to be held aloft is from the Taiwanese automaker Luxgen. Christened the Neora, the car’s claim to fame is that it runs entirely on electric power. Neora also serves to bring forth the firm’s technological prowess apart from providing a preview for the future design language of these electric model cars.
The plug-in four-door sedan concept gets its power from an electric motor rated at 180kw or 241 hp all of which is transmitted to the front wheels. Luxgen has also stated the Neora tips the scales at 1,600 kg or 3527 pounds. Also Neora will be able to complete the 0 – 100 km/h dash in 6.5 second while the top speed the car will be capable of is an impressive 250 km/h or 155mph. The electric motor on board gets its juice from a 48 kwh lithium-ion battery set which Luxgen claims will be able to sustain a driving range of around 400 km or 248 miles on a single charge.
“[The] Neora perfectly represents LUXGEN’s brand spirit of Think Ahead, and the new form of appearance will be the design cues for LUXGEN’s upcoming models in the future,” said James Shyr, the Vice President of the company. He also added: “Its streamline flow, and the innovation of lightweight, as well as fuel economy, represent the novelty of LUXGEN’s energy saving future technologies.”
The Taiwan based automaker currently has two models to offer, the Luxgen7 SUV and the Luxgen7 MPV.
