Well known Indian car maker Tata has unveiled the ZEST compact sedan and BOLT hatchback which both adopt the firm’s new “DesignNext” styling language in India.
Tata have had some peculiar designs in the past but these models are fairly decent and will be offered globally. Aside from featuring a fresh design language, both models also come equipped with a newly developed 4-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged Revotron gasoline engine generating an output of 85 HP (62 kW) at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) between 1,750 rpm and 3,000 rpm.
There’s also a 1.3-liter Quadrajet diesel engine that has been sourced from Fiat with an output of 90 HP (66 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque available within the same rpm range and coupled to a new five-speed automated manual transmission.
Talking about the interiors, inside the cabin both vehicles get a new HARMAN infotainment system with a five-inch touchscreen display with support for voice recognition, Bluetooth, as well as smartphone and social media integration.
Both the vehicles ride on Tata’s X1 platform and will be launched this year in India and other global markets.
