The year 2014 is very close to its end. Yet, before this year actually ends, the US automaker, Tesla Motors, makes sure that it releases more official details regarding its Tesla Roadster 3.0. Of course, this is a nice treat from the US automaker after nothing but just a number of rather cryptic teaser images.
The US automaker claims that its upcoming Roadster 3.0 model will take advantage of improved battery technology. This is to say that the car is to come with an entirely new model of the lithium-ion batteries. This new battery will have a total capacity of 70 kWh, give or take. In addition to that, it will have the ability to preserve 31% more energy when compared to the original battery featured on the model, in spite of both batteries actually have a similar physical size. Yet, the new battery is not the only thing worth mentioning about the new Tesla Roadster 3.0.
According to Tesla Motors, the vehicle model in question will also sit on a new set of modern tires resistant to low rolls. The vehicle will have its wheel bearings improved as well. And, if those features are not enough to convince people to buy this particular vehicle model offered by the US automaker, a retrofit aero kit can also be equipped onto the car. This will reduce the vehicle’s drag coefficient to just 0.31, from the original 0.36 drag coefficient.
With all these new tweaks, Tesla expects the model to have its range improved by some 40 or even 50 percent. Taking that into consideration, the company claims that the Tesla Roadster 3.0 will have no problem going as far as 400 miles on a single battery charge. To prove this, the US automaker plans to drive the all-new Tesla Roadster 3.0 from the San Francisco up to the Los Angeles early in 2015.
