Looking at the revamped 2016 Toyota Prius. While expecting some enhancement throughout the board, we didn’t anticipate the margin by which the Prius would eliminate its previous-generation’s fuel-economy test outcomes.

The 2016 Prius goes further on a gallon of gas than any car Customer Reports has ever checked. By other estimates, it was 52 mpg in general, topping the original Honda Insight’s 51 mpg from method back in 2000.

It’s also a big enhancement over the 44 mpg we tape-recorded with the previous-generation Prius. Many automakers are pleased with a 1 or 2 mpg gain over the predecessor, mainly because powertrain effectiveness gains are neutralized by enhanced animal comforts that add weight and sap fuel economy.
