Two dead after DUI car crash in DeKalb, Illinois

Two people were killed after a car crash in DeKalb, Illinois.

The crash took place when a car was hit by a driver under the influence on Saturday.

Officials responded to the crash around 12:30 a.m.

They determined that a 2017 Ram Pick-up Truck, driven by a 30-year-old identified as Chynna Daugherty, crossed the center line and hit a 2017 Dodge Journey, driven by a 50-year-old identified as Christopher Henning with a 46-year-old passenger identified as Amanda Henning.

Christopher was pronounced dead at the scene.

Amanda was admitted to Northwestern Kishwaukee Hospital, where she succumbed to injuries. Daugherty was also admitted to the same hospital but was later admitted to St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford in serious, but stable condition.

The crash is under investigation.

So far, Daugherty has been charged with Improper Lane Usage and Driving Under the Influence.
